Jewelry Care

{Sterling Silver}

To prevent oxidation (which occurs when Silver meets air) store your pieces in their own little zip lock bags. It will preserve the beauty of your piece.

{Patinas}

The blackened patinas that I add to Sterling Silver is through the method of introducing an acid which causes the Silver to darken to colors from dark brown to black. This is not completely permanent and will lighten and change with wear creating an even more "worn in" effect.

To preserve the patina:

  1. Do not dip your jewelry in any anti-tarnish liquids or use a anti-tarnish cloth of any kind.
  2. Take off jewelry when having constant contact with water.
  3. If you want to clean the surface, use a soft clean cloth to lightly buff.
The patinas actually look beautiful as they age over time. But if you want to keep it preserved for as long as possible follow the instrctions above.

{Precious Metal Clay}

"Precious Metal Clay, PMC, is an exciting material developed and patented in the 1990s by Mitsubishi Materials of Japan. Microscopic particles of silver are mixed with a moist binder to create a material that has the feel and working properties of modeling clay. Using simple tools, objects are easily given shape, texture, and character. After air-drying, the objects are heated to temperatures approaching the melting point of the metal, where the particles fuse together to make a dense, fully metallic object."

Your fine silver piece should be cleaned gently with a cleaning cloth to remove any oxidation that may occur over time. Do not dip your fine silver in a jewelry cleaner because it may strip off the patina that I hand applied to give your piece more dimension. With proper storage you piece will retain its shine and beauty for years.
